Black Horse has a 1000-litre Copper reflux still and a 300-litre reflux gin still with a vapour basket for the botanicals.
After fermentation, the alcohol is placed in the still and the Distiller will apply enough steam to make the alcohol evaporate. For the gin still, the vapourised spirit is passed through the ‘gin basket’ and will extract the oils and aromatics.
Malted barley is used as our main base for our Gin & Vodka

Black Horse Distillery is nestled in the Cradle of Humankind in the Magalies mountain range – among the oldest mountains in the world. The distillery was established in 2014 on the Black Horse family estate by Marius Bezuidenhout and Bernard Botha.
